Our winter seasonal positions on offer are casual positions. Most roles will offer approximately 38 hours per week but given that work is frequently weather dependant there is no guarantee in the number of hours.
As new seasonal worker you might be working less hours at the start of the season however, this is a great time to do lots of company supported training, getting to know your job, making friends and exploring the mountain. Once school holidays commence at the end of June, workloads start to increase and by August we hit peak season. Please be aware that this is only a guide, as each department staff requirements over the season differs.
It is important to be aware that hours you work can fluctuate and you should prepare yourself accordingly eg savings to tie you over in the quiet times.
Hotham does have some subsidised staff accommodation available both on mountain at Hotham and in Dinner Plain (Dinner Plain is a village located approximately 12kms down the road from Hotham). Please note we are not able to offer accommodation to all employees. We encourage everyone to try and source their own accommodation and to compare prices.
Employees living in our subsidised staff accommodation will be required to pay a $280 bond up front to secure a bed after which, accommodation expenses can be deducted from weekly wages. You will be required to pay rent even if your work hours are limited, so keep this in mind while budgeting.
All staff will be required to wear a uniform. Uniforms are appropriate to the conditions and provide protection against the elements where applicable. Outdoor uniforms and indoor uniforms are on loan for the season. These items require the payment of a $210 bond.
Certain uniform items can be purchased and will differ depending on the department you work in. These are yours to keep and have been subsidised by MHSC.
As a convenience for our staff any uniform purchases and bonds can be deducted from weekly wages.
